Theresa Hattori, MBA HM Candidate

Tribal Affairs Administrator
Community Health Plan of Washington

About Me:

Theresa Hattori is an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee Nation, Oklahoma, and is Afro-Indigenous.  She has lived experience with Indigenous knowledge of cultural practices, medicine, and health care preferences of the American Indian and Alaska Native community.  She is skilled in Tribal laws that protect the self-governance and sovereignty of Tribal nations.

Theresa came to Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW) three years ago with more than 20 years of experience within the health maintenance organization (HMO) to help marginalized communities, which is a passion for her, and to better understand the managed care organization, with a topical focus area that elevated the needs of members and underrepresented communities, particularly American Indian and Alaska Native members.

As Tribal Affairs administrator, Theresa serves as an internal and external subject matter expert on Tribal Affairs and cultural training and education to staff.  She is the direct liaison to the Health Care Authority Office of Tribal Affairs, Tribal Partners, and Indian Health Care Providers.  She is currently an MBA Healthcare Management candidate.
