New IMI Resource: State Medicaid Facts – An Overview of Each State’s Program

Caroline E. Adams

Medicaid programs vary significantly across the United States. To provide insight into the variance, the Institute for Medicaid Innovation developed state fact sheets. The new resource offers a comprehensive overview of the Medicaid programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Each fact sheet includes a timeline of the history of the program at both the federal and state levels, as well as current and important news. Additionally, eligible populations, current Section 1115 waivers, and delivery systems in use are identified. Each state’s engagement with managed care organizations (MCOs) is detailed as well. Five core areas focus on: value-based health care initiatives, family planning, women’s health, oral health and behavioral health. These sections describe the services covered by the state’s Medicaid program and/or initiatives that the state has implemented in those areas.
