About Me:

Education & Training

Donald (“Donnie”) Young performs most of his public health work as a certified community health worker and community engagement specialist for Johns Hopkins Institute of Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR).  His role at ICTR allows him to concentrate on furthering the reach of urban-based organizations by providing them with the infrastructures and support needed to make them eligible for assistance with the work they do in their communities.  He previously worked as a project manager for BEMA Needs Assessment Survey, which gave him an opportunity to work closely with the Greater Baltimore HIV Planning Council. Donnie currently acts as capacity builder for more than 25 community-based organizations within Baltimore City.  He is also an active board member of the Historic East Baltimore Community Action Coalition, and is a member of Trinity Baptist Church.  As an out, bi-identified African American man, Donnie brings the penetration of the lived experience to the oppositions and opportunities often faced by sexual and ethnic minorities.
