Kimberly Bower, MD, HMDC, FAAHPM is a family physician and nationally recognized palliative care expert. Her work has centered around population health and community-based case management with a particular focus on building programs for children with special healthcare needs. She actively engages in advocacy and is a leader of the Children’s Hospice & Palliative Care Coalition of California. She has served as the Chief of Palliative Medicine at Rady Children’s Health and as a Medical Director at Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan where she led implementation of a statewide palliative care program and worked to improve outcomes through initiatives such as medically tailored meals, doula programs, and recuperative care. She teaches nationally and internationally and has published multiple book chapters and academic papers. She currently is the pediatric medical director at The Elizabeth Hospice and performs academic work through the University of California San Diego.
