IMI’s Annual Medicaid MCO Survey Enters its Fifth Year

IMI’s Annual Medicaid MCO Survey Enters its Fifth Year
First of its Kind Effort to Collect Information on Medicaid Health Plans

Medicaid health plans can now complete the Institute for Medicaid Innovation’s fifth annual Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) survey. The survey will encompass five years of data and continues to represent the first-of-its-kind comprehensive effort to collect robust, longitudinal information on Medicaid health plans. This data underscores trends in current initiatives, challenges, priorities, and opportunities as identified by MCOs.

The survey was developed in partnership with Medicaid health plan representatives, researchers, and policymakers with the primary goal of equipping stakeholders with data to accurately depict the national narrative on Medicaid managed care.

Last year, respondents represented 67 percent of all covered lives in Medicaid managed care across almost every managed care state, generating a critical report that offers a look into the entire industry.

This year there are several exciting additions to the survey including Telehealth and newly updated Health Equity and Structural Racism sections. For the third year, IMI will also provide trend analyses from the survey findings. Each participating health plan will receive an individualized, benchmarked report of deidentified, aggregated responses from health plans of similar size.

The 2022 survey contains the eleven sections focused on the most pressing issues in Medicaid managed care including high-risk care coordination, value-based purchasing, pharmacy, women’s health, behavioral health, child and adolescent health, long-term services and supports, social determinants of health, COVID-19, health equity and structural racism, and telehealth.

The survey can be accessed at our website and should be completed at the parent level.
Completed surveys should be emailed by March 14 to [email protected].
The IMI team thanks the representatives from the Medicaid health plans serving on the Institute’s Data & Research Committee and Survey Subcommittee who have devoted their time and effort to this important project.
